Madagascar Ruthless RN5 with Nomadic Road
The first thing that comes to mind when you hear “Bolivia” is, “The place where Earth meets the skies” and “The vast white salt flats of Uyuni”. When Venky from Nomadic road announced Bolivia specifically for our group known as the Baikal Boys, I signed up straight away without hesitation. Joy, my close friend had told me that he would like to join me on these expeditions. When I asked Venky if I could bring Joy on board as my partner, he readily agreed and we signed up as a team. The usual gang members Neeraj, Deepak, Mittal, Ram, Ashlyn, Ajesh, and Jos had all signed up and we had…

Nidhi Satty- Wanderer Beyond Boundaries
A few years ago, I had read Bijoy Kumar’s column in one of the magazines that referred to them as the GODS OF THE DUNES. From that moment on, the curiosity and intrigue got the better of me. I was fortunate that some of them had joined us on two of our expeditions in other geographies…that was my first introduction to them as people. But yesterday, one understood why the reference. Just out of words to express what one experienced. You might have heard or read or experienced the touristy dune bashing…but this was seriously next level…pure passion, almost art. Top class driving, phenomenal vehicles – off-road modified, terrain that…

The Zambezi Meander (Zambia-2021) Expedition with Nomadic Road
Nomadic road was back on track after almost 2years in oblivion, thanks to corona. Luckily I had done an expedition in North Kashmir this year in February and was waiting for some action to happen. Then came Venky’s call about the Zambezi meander expedition in Zambia and it was an exclusively boys trip for our Siberia gang, there was no chance of backing out. The brochure and details were enticing too. Somehow permission from Home ministry had to be obtained and it was difficult this time, but approved. Once confirmed, the process of booking tickets and visa formalities began. The brother in law duo of Suresh and Vijay couldn’t join…

Across Shamshabari with WBB 2021
We were lucky enough to have completed the Winter Kelsuu expedition in Kyrgyzstan with WBB before the world was ravaged by the coronavirus. The Lockdowns, work restrictions, and travel bans were taking their own toll with all expeditions thrown out of the window for the year. A year had just gone by without any travels. Passing through a dark tunnel, suddenly saw a ray of light when Nidhi called in one evening to tell me about an expedition in Northern Kashmir called “Across Shamshabari”. The details given during that short call compelled me to say yes. The next thing was, I announced this trip in the ever-enthusiastic Dubai expedition WhatsApp…

The Kel Suu (Kyrgyzstan-2020) winter Expedition with WBB
Having accumulated winter gear for my Iceland and Siberia expeditions, it’s become a compulsion now to go on one winter expedition every year. While in pursuit of a winter expedition, received an email from Nidhi, Founder of Wander Beyond Boundaries (WBB) regarding the Kel-Suu winter expedition in Kyrgyzstan. Even before completely reading the brochure, I had already decided to be on this winter expedition. The next task was to find a competent partner. The first name that came to my mind was Arvind, my childhood friend and classmate, and my partner on the India – Myanmar – Thailand road expedition. Passed on the brochure to him and after minutes of…

The Himalayan Spiti Escape 2019 with Mahindra Adventure
Yes, after Siberia it was again time for some action. From the frozen lake and negative temperatures direct into the mountains and valleys of the Himalayas. My friends from Dubai, popularly known as the Dubai Gang on the Mahindra circuit, decided to be on the Himalayan Spiti escape expedition considered to be one of the toughest drives. Reason 1 was it’s the Drivetech team handling the expedition and reason 2 was Bijoy, Chief of Mahindra adventures would be with us. Our first experience with the Drivetech team on the IMT expedition was so awesome, that we were looking forward to do the expedition with them again. Online bookings were on,…

The Road to Baikal (Siberia -2019) with The Nomadic Road
Some of my friends say I am living my dream. Some say I am living my passion. But it’s not as rosy as it looks. It’s not easy to travel on these adventurous expeditions while having an 11-year-old Autistic daughter at home. I am able to do these travels just because my one and only wife is supportive and allows me to follow my passion of adventure even though it’s difficult for her to manage without me. I will always stay indebted to her for this. The same evening that I returned from the Mount Everest base camp expedition, I received a message from Venky regarding the Road to Baikal…

The Summit Drive – 2018 with Mahindra Adventure
Heard from a friend about his experience with Mahindra Adventure’s Monastery escape road trip and wanted to try it. By the time, could decide and find a perfect partner, the trip was sold out. Going through their website, saw that they were doing the Bhutan expedition for the first time. A 10 minute research on Google and i was convinced that we should do this road trip to which my partner Shekar readily agreed and alas, the booking was done instantly online. I am glad i did this trip and that too with a set of people who seemed quite in sync with us. Eventually all experiences are about two…

Solo Self Drive through Georgia-2018
I traveled to many countries with family for holidays and did some crazy road expeditions with friends, but this time round wanted to do something different. So I decided to go on a solo driving expedition in Georgia. Georgia is now a hot destination for Gulf residents as it is close by and expats get a visa on arrival. It was not very difficult to organize this trip. A little time spent watching some vlogs on YouTube and reading some travel blogs gave me a fair idea of what to do and where to go. With hotel bookings and a set itinerary, I began hunting for a decent SUV to…
